I saw a saying that said, " Sleep is a substitute of coffee for people with too much free time on their hands." Yes, it is supposed to be funny, but how many of us believe that in at least a little way? How many of us take caffeine - coffee, soda, tea, chocolate, diet pills or other... to keep going or to help us get more done? Hmmm... ouch, that hurts a little, doesn't it? Okay, okay... most of us probably realize we use that artificial  "energy" sometimes...., but so what?

Valentine’s Day Pretzel Treats
PinkWhen

Hello Everyone!  It’s Dee from Meatloaf and Melodrama, and I’m back this month with a very simple Valentine’s Day treat to share with you today. My kids love helping out in the kitchen, especially when it comes to making easy desserts and snacks. And with Valentine’s Day coming up, I thought it would be fun for all of us to make something sweet and tasty that the kids could also hand out to friends. So, we spent a fun evening whipping up these cute and easy Valentine’s Day Pretzel Treats.

Ex-STRAW-dinary, Ex-STRAW-special, Valentines
Now that the girls are in school we had to do valentines for all their classmates. And as usual having twins means double of everything, and no we can't do 1 from the both of them, they each have to give one to every kid in the class. That makes for a whole lot of valentines! I realized pretty quickly I needed something cheap but cute. One trip to dollar tree and I had my idea. Straws!

Shredded Heart T-shirt -- Sewing Tutorial

Roonie Ranching

I know Valentine's Day is still a month away, but I couldn't resist making Charlotte (my six-year-old) a new shredded heart t-shirt to replace the one she has just about worn to death over the past two years.  My brother-in-law once asked Charlotte if she had been attacked by a vampire what she was wearing it, but she just giggled and ran away.  Let's hope no one else mistakes little Charlotte as a vampire's victim when she wears this new shirt.

DIY Inspired

It’s time for another Dollar Bin Challenge! Our item this month is a glass test tube found for $1.50 in the dollar bins at Michael’s. I decided to make this little gift set of eucalyptus Epsom bath salts. In case you are wondering, these are not the type of bath salts that make you want to eat another person’s face… ha! Kidding… well, not kidding, but rather a soothing all-natural way to relax in the tub!  Here is how to make homemade bath salts.

5 Ingredient Chocolate Mini Cakes
Eclectic Red Barn
On Saturday, we had a few friends over for dinner. I wanted to make something special for dessert since our guests were visiting here from Italy. I needed something that I could make ahead of time and then put together at the last minute. These mini chocolate cakes were the ticket.

January’s Theme: Start Smoking In The New Year – The New Year is heating up with smoke and spiciness. From boldly flavored smoked salts to actual smoking techniques, subtly smoked food is on-trend. The same can be said for spice as we savor heat from harissa, sriracha and smoked paprika. Show us the healthy dish you’re heating up with smoke and/or spiciness.

For those who have been following me for a while you know I like to take things un-ordinary and remake it into something else. Trash to treasure is my game. Like for example a long while ago I took an old dresser top mirror and made it into a faux fireplace you can view that here. I like getting my apartment therapy on! ha!  Well I had a new idea. I am currently blogging in the Hormel Extended Family Bloggers program. You can view about that there. So each month I will be getting a large cooler to my door that looks like this....

I've been meaning to post this for quite some time, months in fact. Funny thing is that since I first started planning this post, the places have swapped around quite a bit. I am finding some platforms much better at promotion than I was last year whilst some of my former loves have taken a tumble down the list. Nevertheless here are my best places to promote your posts.

I have a problem.  A book problem.  You might call it an addiction.  And though I appreciate all sorts of stories, my drug of choice is folktales.
My husbands thinks that I am nuts.  He has given me a quota.  “No more books this month.  Enough!”  That is why I love cash—it doesn’t leave a trail.  Cackle.  Cackle.  Stroking hairless cat.
Libraries are great enablers.  I once requested so many books that it froze my account.  Did you know that there is a maximum of books that one can request? (It is 30.)

Chocolate Cheesecake Cookie Bites

Hey y’all!!!  I am back with another awesome dessert perfect for Valentine’s Day.  I love making cookie cups and every time I make them they disappear in minutes.
I usually make just a vanilla cheesecake filling but come on what’s Valentine’s without a little chocolate?

I first learned of oil pulling several years ago and I was shocked I hadn’t heard of it sooner.  It sounded like the ultimate ‘goofy’ remedy that wouldn’t work to me.  But after researching quite a bit … like I do on everything … I decided I just had to try it.

Crochet Elsa Crown With Hair

Some months back my daughter was going to her friend's birthday, which happened to be a Frozen party. Her friend (also our neighbor) has gorgeous red hair. She inspired my Princess Anna Hat pattern. Well now it's her older sister's birthday, also Frozen theme, and what better to make than something inspired by Elsa?
