BE-CA-USE

I carefully spelled the word 'be-ca-use' in my head and my hands traced the letters on the ruled sheet of paper, as I answered the question- 'Why should we cut our nails regularly?'. I let out a teeny, tiny smile as I wrote 'because' in my cursive writing. I always did that - the smile - unintentionally, of course. You see, 'because' was the first 'big' word I had learned to spell. My mother had taught me the thumb rule to learning spellings: 'break-the-word'. I had remembered to use the rule ('be-ca-use') and that was a reason good enough for me to be happy and proud.

That was me as a grade 3 student taking her science exam.

The 'because smile' gradually fainted. 'Because' is no longer a difficult word for me to spell but the teaching still remains- 'Break the word'. 'Break the problem'. Conquer it in parts!

No matter how tough the times are, I have learned to overcome them, taking things one at a time- breaking my problems into molecules and catering them in the best possible way.

A distant goal does not terrify me. I know, it's the tiny steps that I make towards it that count. Lesson learned - Break the Word. Break the Problem! Conquer it in Parts!

  6. Beautiful colours to symbolize the word! I completely agree: break down the word, the problem, the issue, the facts, the list goes on and on....and then restructure, rebuild, retrace, repeat, towards that final goal!

  8. I love this! Pinning! It's a great way to look at things - split the huge tasks into smaller ones! I'm trying to do that with my novel right now and it's making things a lot easier!
